Jean Boucault is a French bird singer born in northern France. Together with Johnny Rasse, they are the Chanteurs d’oiseaux (Bird Singers), universally recognized as the greatest human imitators of birdsong. Their technique harks back to the very first attempts at song and incorporates breath voicing, diphonics, aspirated voicing, trilled singing, high and low-pitched whistling, and percussive singing. Boucault’s repertoire extends to thousands of different birdsong across five continents. Chanteurs d’oiseaux’s last project is a musical voyage with Charles Darwin.
