Alliance Française de Détroit / French Institute of Michigan

For over 30 years, the Alliance Française de Détroit / French Institute of Michigan (AFD/FIM) has been a cornerstone for French language education and cultural enrichment in Michigan. Offering a comprehensive range of French language classes for all ages and proficiency levels, AFD/FIM provides both group and private lessons, available in-person and online. As an accredited exam center, it administers official French proficiency tests, including the TCF and TEF. Beyond language instruction, AFD/FIM hosts diverse cultural events – such as film screenings and literary evenings – to immerse participants in Francophone culture. Additional services include translation assistance and access to a library of French literature and media.

Alliance Française de Grand Rapids

Since its founding in 1956, the Alliance Française de Grand Rapids (AFGR) has been dedicated to promoting French language and culture in the Grand Rapids community. As part of a global network of over 1,000 Alliances Françaises in 138 countries, AFGR offers a variety of programs and events for Francophones and Francophiles alike. AFGR provides French language classes for all levels, with registration for the spring session currently open. In addition to language instruction, the organization hosts cultural events such as French conversation groups, book club discussions, and celebrations of French traditions like Mardi Gras. With a lending library offering French books and movies, AFGR serves as a resource for those interested in deepening their understanding of Francophone culture.
